She is a storyteller and self-taught artist and has been painting and exhibiting for more than a decade. Painting supports her connection to her Aboriginal culture and Country. Her painting style is a contemporary fusion of abstract painting and cultural motifs, using groups of symbols as a way of narrating a story and preserving cultural traditions. It's the way her people passed on information for thousands of years. Maria is passionate about contributing to the preservation of the longest living culture.
